Los Angeles, CA: performed at the El Rey Theatre
Russell Brand is an English comedian, actor, radio and television presenter, singer, columnist, and author.
In 2004, Brand achieved mainstream fame in the UK as the host of Big Brother's Big Mouth, a Big Brother spin-off. In 2007, he had his first major film role in St Trinian's. He became known in the United States in 2008, after his major role in Forgetting Sarah Marshall; the film led to a starring role in Get Him to the Greek in 2010. He also worked as a voice actor for animated films Despicable Me in 2010 and Hop in 2011. He starred in the 2011 remake of the 1981 Dudley Moore film Arthur.
Brand’s humor has become widely popular in the United States, and it is for that reason that Americans United is so delighted to have him join Voices United to stand up for the separation of church and state.
With his acting, stand-up comedy and writing, Brand has maintained a hectic schedule in recent years. He reprised his role of wanton rocker Aldous Snow for 2010's Get Him to the Greek with Jonah Hill. That same year, Brand lent his voice to the animated hit Despicable Me and appeared in Julie Taymor's film adaptation of William Shakespeare's The Tempest . He also published his second memoir, Booky Wook 2: This Time It's Personal (2010).
He has a role in the 2012 musical Rock of Ages with Tom Cruise. He is also working on screenwriter Diablo Cody's untitled directorial debut and is set to appear in a new Michael Bay film. On the small screen, Brand is scheduled to host his own show on the FX network in 2012.
